Learn More About Orthodontics & Your Visit to Our Office

There are a variety of factors that will account for the cost of your braces. We provide several options that are suited to treat all dental misalignments and will explain your options after a free consultation.
  • Bracket: The attachment bonded to the tooth or welded to the band
  • Archwire: A large removable wire that fits around the arch into the bracket slots
  • Elastic Ligature: A plastic ring that ties archwire into bracket or ligature wire
  • Ligature Wire: A tiny wire that ties archwire into bracket
  • Hooks: Used to attach rubber bands
  • Band: A ring of metal with the bracket attached that is glued to the tooth
  • Full-Archwire: Archwire that extends from molar to molar
A spacer is a small rubber band that is placed to separate the back teeth. The space created is so the bands can be fitted on molars.
If the spacer falls out, that means it’s working. Call the office. If your next appointment is within a few days, we may instruct you to leave it out or schedule an appointment to replace it.
Call our office and schedule an appointment. If the bracket detaches from the wire, save it and bring it to your next appointment.
Call us to make an appointment immediately. These problems could cause the teeth to shift in the wrong direction and should be taken care of quickly.
Try tucking the wire in with the eraser part of a pencil. If that doesn’t work, dry it with a napkin and place wax over the tip of the wire to prevent further irritation.

Rinse your mouth with warm salt water and/or take Advil or Tylenol as directed. Pressure and mild discomfort are normal for a couple of days following adjustments.

We have special mouthguards to help keep their braces safe from damage.
Invisalign is a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners that are worn and replaced roughly every two weeks. Each new aligner is designed to slowly move the teeth into their natural position.

We recommend scheduling an orthodontist appointment by the age of 7 to ensure your child’s teeth and jaw are developing properly. Early treatment can give us the chance to:

  • Guide jaw growth
  • Lower the risk of trauma to protruded front teeth
  • Correct poor oral habits
  • Improve appearance
  • Guide permanent teeth into their natural position
  • Improve the way lips meet when mouth is closed
